First Ski Trip!

Erin and I drove the Westy up to the mountains above Silverthorn Friday night for a Winter camping trip. The wind was crazy that night, so we slept downstairs. We were very warm and comfortable under a thick down comforter.

The Gardens at Spring Creek Holiday lights

We went over to The Gardens at Spring Creek Saturday night to view the festive Christmas lights. They did a great job lighting everything up this year! Suggested fonation is $2, and we think it’s worth it.

Christmas tree cutting on Rist Canyon

This afternoon we drove up Rist Canyon to get a Christmas tree at Davis Ranch. It snowed last night and Davis Ranch Rd was blocked by stuck cars, so we went farther up and found a u-cut on a family 160 acre lot. We still needed chains on our Element to make it very far up. It was fun bounding through deep powder with the dogs to cut our own tree!

Building a gatling gun!

The 22 caliber Gatling Gun plans I ordered came in the mail today! They are very detailed and take up many sheets. Since I’m still honing my machinist skills, I plan to start with some of the easier parts. I’m not sure yet whether I’ll try to make my own barrels from scratch or adapt something that is already made. Expect to see updates to this project for years to come.

Homemade boring bar holder

I finished a new boring bar holder today. I was getting ready to finish a hole on a part I’m making and realized I had no holders for round tools. Necessity really is the mother of invention!
