Vanagon Westfalia Yakima Roof Racks

In preparation for our 2 month road trip across the US in our Westy, I decided to add Yakima roof racks and our SpaceBooster box for added storage. Hopefully this will reduce the amount of “stuff” we have inside the camper, so that there will be room for the two people and two dogs.
Here’s a shot of the new racks from the rear. I was able to get the towers on ebay for a good deal, and I already had the bars. The only really costly parts were the pads that mount to the camper roof:

    Hi, I am about to install my mounts for the Yakima rack. How did/would you change the placement of the bars? Forward/back? Thanks. Pictures too if u can. Thanks a ton!!

    My wife and I bought our first westy, plan to take it across country and have a large container as well very wide. I plan on having the rails closer to the rear of the bus. Send me an email if you would like to see its progress. Your ad was very useful.
